Prayers for a Departed Friend

images-1Dear Friends at Vaishnavas CARE,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Please could I ask for your prayers for Keith Baillie, a very old and dear friend of mine from my hometown of Dundee, Scotland? Sometime ago, I heard he had passed away at home last August  6, 2018, age 52. I had no other details at that time.

I have just returned from a family visit to Dundee and while there discovered that Keith had taken his own life. This shocked and saddened me very deeply. Keith images-2wasn’t a practicing devotee, but as a musician, he loved to chant Hare Krishna, accompanying himself on guitar. When I would speak with him we would discuss the philosophy of Krishna consciousness and he had several of Srila Prabhupada’s books. Please pray for this dear soul, so that he can move on from this material world and continue his journey closer to Lord Krishna. The compassionate prayers of the Vaishnavas will surely be heard and make Keith’s journey an easier one.

Thank you so much.

Your servant,

 Sangita Priya Dasi

Oh my goodness, I have just seen this while looking to reconnect with my old friend Keith. At first I hoped it was not him, but everything you have described makes me know this was “my” Keith.
I am absolutely gutted to see this news, I have thought about him often since I left Dundee in the early 90s, we somehow lost touch, which I have always regretted.
I remember him as very reserved and far too modest, because he was an utterly brilliant guitarist (I still have a song he wrote for me) – but beyond the shy exterior, he was a truly spiritual, passionate and loving soul, with whom I connected on a level far beyond the realms of everyday life and this world.
Go quietly amidst the noise and haste my friend, I hope you have found peace <3 xx

    Dear Aud,
I hope you don’t mind me contacting you this way – I wrote the original post about Keith which Sangita, the founder of Vaisnavascare, so kindly posted on my behalf. Sangita also forwarded your message on to me.
(As my spiritual name is also Sangita (Priya),to avoid any confusion with my dear friend, Sangita mentioned above,I’ll use my birth name, Lucy.
I’m so sorry you found out about Keith’s passing in this way,it must’ve been a terrible shock for you. Like you, I had also been trying to contact Keith after not receiving my usual Christmas card in 2018. And also, like you, when the first Google entry came up with his obituary, I didn’t want to believe it was him. His passing has affected me very deeply.
Thankyou for writing so beautifully your memories of Keith. I’m in awe at how,by some special grace you were brought to this page.
Please take care and know I’m thinking of you and hope that maybe one day,we can share more about our dear and very special friend, Keith.
    With love and hugs,
    Lucy xx
