Dear Friends of Vaishnavas CARE,
Hare Krishna. I would like to thank our Vaishnavas CARE Administrative Assistant, Kamala Radha Devi Dasi from Philadelphia, for performing the auspicious Ash Immersion Ceremony for our dear friend, Savitri Devi Dasi, who was also from ISKCON Philadelphia.
On January 20, 2020, Kamala Radha and a small group of devotees took a boat to the confluence of two sacred rivers in Mayapur, India, the Ganges River and the Jalangi River. Under the guidance of a very expert Pujari (Priest), Kamala Radha placed Savitri’s ashes from her cremation in the sacred rivers while they chanted the Holy Names of the Lord, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.
Kindly see the photos below showing this very auspicious ceremony which is part of the final rites for the soul after leaving the physical body. This ceremony also assists the family and close friends of the deceased with the closure that is often needed after a loved one’s departure from this world. (Photo credit: Kisori Radha Devi Dasi)
For more information about the Ash Immersion Ceremony, please read the book, The Final Journey — Complete Hospice Care for the Departing Vaishnavas. (Torchlight Publishing, 2nd Edition — Available on our STORE Page). In The Final Journey, His Grace Jananivas Prabhu explains the specific steps to take when performing the Ash Immersion Ceremony in the Ganges River while in Mayapur, India and His Grace Deena Bandhu Prabhu gives explicit directions how to perform this ceremony in the sacred waters of the Yamuna River while in Vrindavan, India.
Thank you again to Kamala Radha Devi Dasi for performing this auspicious ceremony for our dear friend, Savitri Devi Dasi.
Yours in service,
Sangita Devi Dasi
